About Axis

Sarai (pronounced "Sarah") Stapleton, a native Texan, graduated from Texas A&M University's School of Engineering in 1987 with a B.S. degree.  She has always taken a keen interest in the science of the human body and its ability to heal, so after a successful career in corporate sales and product management, she chose to study Traditional Chinese Medicine and how it can effectively be integrated into our Western medical model.  Sarai earned her Masters Degree at American College of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine in Houston.   As a student, she authored the article Blending the Boundaries: Steps Toward an Integration of Complementary and Alternative Medicine into Mainstream Practice  (J. of Complementary and Alternative Medicine, Dec. 2002; 8(6):897-906).

Sarai is certified by the NCCAOM (National Certification Commission for Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine) as a Diplomate of Oriental Medicine and by the American Board of Oriental Reproductive Medicine. She is also an inaugural fellow of the American Board of Oriental Reproductive Medicine.

Prior to opening Axis Acupuncture she worked at Eastern Harmony Clinic in Houston and with Randine Lewis, PhD, author of The Infertility Cure (Little, Brown and Co.) at her Fertility Enhancing Retreats in Austin.  Sarai is licensed by the Texas State Board of Medical Examiners (AC00791), and is a member of  AAOM (American Association of Oriental Medicine) and TAAOM (Texas Association of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine).
